The Knowledge Women Innovation Spaces Living Lab arises from the need to support the personal and professional growth of women through knowledge and innovation, operating hand in hand with the RetosFemeninos.com social network, the International Women's Day Chapter Mexico, the Mexico-U.S. Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council (MUSEIC) and the Communications Council of Mexico and their national campaign for business work in Mexico Ana and Mary, Pepe and Toño.

The iCluster Ecosystem embraces the principles of this “living laboratory” to empower women with knowledge in support of the  MUSEIC  Women Entrepreneurship Subcommitteewhich seeks to face the challenges of gender inequality as a key element for well-being and socioeconomic development in North America.

The goal of  Gender Equality Initiative  is to promote the empowerment and participation of women in the productive life of Mexico in an innovation space that allows them to find opportunities, improve themselves and improve their quality of personal and family life, contributing to the development of their socioeconomic environment.

The iCluster ecosystem promotes success stories of women from different social levels who decided to undertake entrepreneurial projects in various industry sectors and regions. Use cases include women with formal professions or skills trained in the practice, migrant women, indigenous women, disabled women, and women engaged in science and technology.

Challenge: Fostering Women Entrepreneurship in an Adverse Environment

It represents a core iCluster objective that responds to the HLED Agreement signed between the governments of Mexico and the United States to produce change by promoting women's businesses in different social areas, industry sectors, regionsand innovation areas, empowering them with knowledge.

Challenge: Overcoming of Indigenous Women

According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), women are part of a marginalized social sector in Mexico due to limited access to education, the Internet and the monolingualism of indigenous communities, among other examples of social inequality. iCluster seeks to impact the new generations of indigenous women as agents of change in rural communities.

Challenge: Overcoming of Migrant Women

Despite the fact that studies of migration from Mexico to the United States have taken place decades back, it is relatively incipient to identify the productive inclusion of women and recognition of their role before and after migration. The iCluster Ecosystem has linked experts to propose innovative alternatives in response to the challenges and adaptation process that migrant women face, in line with its border development strategy.

Women in Science and Technology

The role of women in the Digital Transformation of government, industry, and businesses can benefit from identifying smart specializations. The iCluster vision foresees turning women’s work linked to Science, Technology, and Innovation into productive projects under an egalitarian business environment that promotes their contribution to value networks.
