Initiatives

Augmented reality allows the incorporation of digital information in a real environment through pattern recognition performed by specialized software, which has started a global race aimed at the generation of innovative applications in various social, cultural, and economic fields that relate to cultural heritage and respond to a Smart City Agenda under global technology trends.
This project started from the bilateral scientific cooperation efforts between France and Mexico under the
principles of the Knowledge Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Living Lab (KSME LL) to identify opportunities for the ‘knowledge SME’. French universities were leaders in 2012 of advanced European Augmented Reality projects. Reaumobile sought to enable a new generation of intelligent tools to foster creativity and generate cultural and entertainment services of a Smart City. The Reaumobile Consortium was created signing a cooperation agreement supported by innovation authorities from France and Mexico and convening binational allied organizations led by:

Reaumobile sought to enable a new generation of smart tools to foster creativity and generate innovation in cultural and entertainment services of a Smart City. Its objective was the creation of a cultural innovation
space that includes: (i) a knowledge network implemented on the Spribo® platform, including the model (ontology) defined within the context of Points of Interest (POI) that make up relevant assets of the cultural heritage of a Smart City, (ii) the analysis and a prototype of a PoI augmented reality mobile application, and (iii) the analysis and an application prototype of an augmented reality mobile application, and (iv) a prototype a prototype of a social network analysis application with

semantic inference capabilities applied to the content generated around PoIs.
Reaumobile’s development considered cloud services that promote cultural and entertainment innovation spaces among citizens and visitors, including:
-
PoI Route mapping and recommendations
-
The ability to visually locate the PoI through the camera of a mobile device, recognize Points of Interest in close proximity, process the POI information, and use the Augmented Reality capabilities of the smart mobile device
-
An intuitive user experience that leverages the native functionality of the smart mobile device and its interaction with knowledge bases
-
Social network & sentiment analysis to evaluate the PoI perception and deliver semantic recommendations

Each of the participating partners has managed to develop innovative intellectual property in fields of knowledge management, Web 3.0, semantic analysis, social network analysis, augmented reality, computer visualization, storytelling, ergonomics and visitor safety and creative industry capabilities. It combines different developments in Mexico and France in complementary and innovative thematic areas of the Internet of the Future in the space of Web 3.0 culture and multimedia production with high potential for commercial use. The knowledge base offers personalization of geolocated services that apply to Objects, Points and Routes of Interest in a Smart City.
Services in the culture environment of a Smart City will give diverse benefits, helping to reduce the digital divide and promoting education through the favorite methods of acquiring knowledge according to the profiles of users and the personalization of services (opening the future possibility of directing such services to a student, a researcher to a tourist, a teacher, a child, etc.)
A cultural online community fosters collaboration via innovation spaces.
Innovative mobile services offerings in innovation spaces and mass production of multimedia contents in diverse cultural niches, generating competitiveness and high- value employment. Contact has been established with various ICT clusters in multiple regions of Mexico and all have expressed interest in participating in Smart City projects in their region. By scaling Reaumobile, it is expected to trigger a multiplier effect on demand for apps and 2D/3D content that can be satisfied by the city’s MSMEs.
